SPA - Protection of the Springs

The Spa Waters owe their purity and their characteristic mineral-content to a series of geological and hydrological factors.  The Ardennes Fagne, at an altitude of 600 metres, constitutes a genuine natural reservoir fed every year by rainfall and melting snow.

This water, far removed from any pollution, filters slowly through the ground and re-appears in Spa, 250 metres above sea-level, in a multitude of gushing springs.

Recognised as a form of national wealth, the site was very early the object of protective action that was displayed in various guises during the course of centuries.
